Meet Dr. Hughes

Education and Experience
Dr. Hughes grew up in Brookston Indiana, a small farming community in northern Indiana. After high school he attended Purdue University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1980. He attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry, and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, With Distinction, in 1984. He completed a 2-year residency in Orthodontics in 1986 at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. That same year, he opened his private practice here in Indianapolis.
Professional Affiliations
He is currently an adjunct faculty member in the Indiana University School of Dentistry graduate orthodontic program. He is a board certified orthodontist and an active member of the following organizations:
- American Board of Orthodontics
- Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Indiana Association of Orthodontists, President from 1995-1996
- American Dental Association
- Indiana Dental Association
- Indianapolis District Dental Society
In teaching the next generation of orthodontists, and participating in continuing education through professional organizations, Dr. Hughes stays current on the latest orthodontic principles and practices.
Beyond Hughes Orthodontics
He and his wife, Debbie, have been married for 41 years and have two children, Meredith and Evan.
